A FELUS raffia bag is harvested, processed and handwoven in Madagascar. No machine weaves it. That is not a marketing line. It is simply how it is made.
It begins with the fibre
Every bag starts as raw raffia, harvested from the palm and dried in the sun. The ribbons are sorted by hand and the uneven ones set aside. Some are left close to their natural colour, some are dyed: tea, brown and black. Before a single row is woven, the material has already passed through several pairs of hands.
Woven row by row
A weaver sets the tension of every ribbon, building the bag's structure row by row. There is no press, no mould, no shortcut. That is why no two bags are identical, and why each one holds its shape the way it does.
The technique is not taught from a manual. It is learned by sitting next to someone who already knows it.
Then it travels
From Madagascar the bag comes to Athens, where it is unpacked, looked over, and folded into a dust bag made by hand in Greece before it is sent on.
